Bleach è l'album di esordio dei Nirvana e fu prodotto e registrato ai Reciprocal Recording di Seattle da Jack Endino in varie sessioni tra il dicembre dell'88 e il gennaio dell'89. La Sub Pop lo pubblicò il 15 giugno 1989.
Ora, ad oltre venti anni di distanza, il 3 novembre 2009 la Sub Pop pubblicherà una nuova edizione dell'album sia in CD che in doppio vinile (la prima tiratura sarà in vinile bianco come accadde 20 anni prima). Le canzoni sono state rimasterizzate dai mastri originari agli Sterling Sound con la supervisione di Jack Endino e con incluso un concerto dal vivo registrato al Pine Street Theatre di Portland, Oregon, USA tenutosi il 9 febbraio 1990 (con Chad Channing alla batteria).
Al CD è accluso un booklet di 48 pagine con foto mai pubblicate della band, nel vinile il booklet sarà invece di 16 pagine.
